The punkiness of Black Flag, the rawness of Death Grips and the flow of Mykki Blanco: Ho99o9 has it all. With their confrontational performances, this alternative hip hop group has built itself a strong live reputation over the years. “Entertaining, societally engaged, cool, hard as nails and a feast for the eyes”, wrote De Morgen. After performances at SXSW festival, Visions Festival, Pukkelpop and Sonic City, now it's OUT THE FRAME’S turn. Trap meets gabba meets hardcore punk!
The Antwerp Miss Angel blends old school hip hop, UK grime and hi-NRG. As one of the best lyricists and MCs Belgium has to offer, she's rapidly made a name for herself in the hip hop scene. She's been justifiably compared to the likes of Lil’ Kim and Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes. After releasing some outstanding singles, she was invited to Dour, Couleur Café, Fire is Gold and Pukkelpop. The release of her debut EP ‘Ghetto Mami Vol. 1’ served to confirm her remarkable talent. Her momentum hasn't slowed in the past year, with the release of tracks like ‘Icky with da Sticky’, ‘Who’ and ‘More to Give’. Miss Angel’s here to stay!
Limburger Ashley Morgan was long known as LTGL. He was one of the biggest Belgian hypes, endorsed by Gilles Peterson and opening for The Gaslamp Killer. He forged his own path, expanding his skill set and DJing for Dvtch Norris and Blu Samu. Now Morgan is back with a unique sound, somewhere between hip hop (he raps!), electronica and bedroom pop. His first EP ‘LETGOLETGOLETGO’ was widely acclaimed from the off. “A new name in the game to keep an eye on in the future!”– Chase.
Having come to Belgium as a Rwandan refugee, the poppy Brussels singer-songwriter BRYN went on to make his musical dreams come true. In 2011 he started to write songs and learned to play guitar. A friend was so impressed by his compositions he started calling him ‘The Brain’: hence BRYN, from the Dutch pronunciation. Later that same friend gifted him an old synthesiser, on which he would write ‘Take Me There’. Flash forward to today and BRYN is back with a new EP. Solid pop à la Lorde and Tove Lo!
Antwerp's abrahamblue soaked up inspiration from a wide spectrum of genres in his youth. From classic Arab singers like Fairuz and Abdel Halim Hafez to Michael Jackson, Beethoven and Bach. Then he discovered jazz: abrahamblue would combine this genre with nineties hip hop, soul and gospel to create his own eclectic style. His search for a unique, melodic groove led to him winning the award for Most Promising Artist of the Year at the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards. His first EP, ‘Tracks I made Last Summer’ has since been played by BBC Radio 1 and Studio Brussel.
