Een leesgroep die vragen over de dood en sterven onderzoekt

Vooruit wants to ensure everyone has a safe evening. That’s why we are limiting the number ofavailable tickets for each production. We’re also closely following the safety measures, which you can find on our corona-pagina. Read over them before your visit to Vooruit and enjoy your visit in complete safety. #staysafe

As part of Fiona Hallinan's residency in the Open Atelier, she will host a session of the On Death Reading Group, a regular gathering, open to anyone, that explores different conceptions, constructions and approaches to questions of death, dying and the dead. Everyone is welcome to join the reading group discussion. In advance, you will be sent selected material to read. The hope is to create a shared, open and intimate space in which to discuss the material.

By discussing close reading of multiple sources drawn from across a wide range of disciplines and geographies, the goal is to elaborate an understanding of the conceptual and metaphorical dimensions of death, so as to support the further development of the project of Ultimology. Ultimology describes a hypothetical area of study that looks at that which is dead or dying, meaning obsolete, at risk, endangered or wasting away. Interested? Check previous reading group gatherings and their reading material on departmentofultimology.com.
