The British producer Kevin Richard Martin is the man behind The Bug, King Midas Sound, Techno Animal and Zonal. With his characteristic sound – overdriven dub, dark ambient and deep drones – Martin has been pumping out one masterpiece after the other since the 90s. For VIDEODROOM he will perform a unique live set to accompany the iconic sci-fi classic ‘Solaris’ by master filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky.
The Russian ‘Solaris’ is set entirely in a space station. A psychologist is tasked with investigating what has befallen the crew. Gradually he also loses touch with reality. Tarkovsky’s phenomenal feature emanates a heavy and alienating atmosphere. The new live score by Kevin Richard Martin heightens this feeling.
In addition to being a producer and musician, Martin also oversees his own label, the digital Intercranial Recordings. He recently released a new five-part series of albums entitled ‘Frequencies for Leaving Earth’. Each part was composed, mixed and produced during the lockdown period. Martin has built his own home studio in the heart of Brussels, where he now lives as of recently. For the first time in a long while Kevin Richard Martin is returning to the stage. Don’t miss your chance to see him.

“About as disorienting as deep listening gets - far too alien to simply be declared ‘ambient’.”
