Wed 28.10.'2020:00 - 22:00Online event
The Covid-19 pandemic is already putting the lives of millions at risk. If anything, the virus has shown us that the world is ripe for change. We have to fix broken infrastructure and address the social inequalities that lie at the heart of the pandemic’s origin. At NO(W)WORRIES, the academic, activist and feminist Silvia Federici will look at how popular feminist movements can contribute to these processes of change.
Federici asserts that the different battles surrounding healthcare, agriculture, food production, climate justice and care, and the rejection of all forms of racism and xenophobia, are of the utmost importance: they are not only the preconditions for returning to a certain ‘normality’, but the essential building blocks required in transforming this crisis and making room for change.
After her livestreamed talk, Silvia Federici will enter into discussion with sociology professor Benedikte Zitouni and activist and writer Oana Uiorean. Moderation is in the capable hands of Kopano Maroga, Vooruit’s guest dramaturg.
On 26, 28 and 29 October, Gent University, Vooruit, OFFoff Art Cinema, Kunsthal Gent and are joining forces to host a multiple day event with feminist activist, writer and teacher Silvia Federici, renowned for her research and activism at the intersection of women’s, anti-capitalist, and anti-colonial struggles. Silvia Federici will join online while we will gather physically at OFFoff Art Cinema / Kunsthal Ghent (film screening, 26.10) and Vooruit (public lecture, 28.10). Contrary to previous announcements, the workshop with Silvia Federici (29.10) will take place entirely online. Read more at kunsthal.gent.
