12 musical responses to Van Eyck’s masterpiece

‘Listen to the Lamb!’ on Saturday 3 October marks the highpoint of the Flanders Festival Ghent 2020. On this day twelve musicians and artists will bring the twelve panels of Van Eyck’s world-famous altarpiece to life. Vooruit has invited Velma Spell – the alias of Liew Niyomkarn and Inne Eysermans – to present their playful performance, which combines sound, music, text, objects, microcontrollers and the performance space itself. The two draw inspiration from mythology, science and documentary material.

‘Listen to the Lamb!’ is a wondrous, multidisciplinary polyptych on and around Ghent’s Bijloke Site. Twelve culture houses invite artists of different strokes to present their own interpretation of Van Eyck’s masterpiece. With work by, among others, Velma Spell, SPECTRA, Mattias De Craene, Osama Abdulrasol, Picea Orientalis, B.O.X and Peenoise, among others. To cap things off, there will be a concert by BL!NDMAN at Muziekcentrum De Bijloke at 20:00.
