How does our food make it to our plates today?

During our Artist Talks, the door to our Open Atelier is literally open. Here you will get a short presentation on whatever our current artist-in-residence is working on – a little overture to what follows: a moderator enters into discussion with the artist. Feel free to bring your own lunch. This time we’ll be listening to Samah Hijawi and Mirna Bamieh, who will talk about their project ‘Kitchen / Table’.

With ‘Kitchen / Table’ Hijawi and Bamieh explore the diverse histories, cultures and practices behind food production. In this way they seek to give us a better understanding of how food makes it to our plates today. The project has various different incarnations: as performative food symposia, community-based and participative projects and both audio and visual practices.
