An idiosyncratic and humorous pas de deux

Alexander Vantournhout: short limbs, long torso, no hair, shoe size 42. Axel Guérin: long limbs, short torso, long hair, shoe size 45. In the Belgian premiere of ‘Through the Grapevine’ these two performers show their athletic bodies unadorned. They come up against their physical limits and discover their bodies’ strengths and weaknesses. ‘Through the Grapevine’ is in this way a unique and humorous pas de deux between two men in search of balance and harmony.

With his latest production Vooruit resident Alexander Vantournhout tackles the imagery of bodies on social media. Photoshopped images distort our image of what a real body looks like. ‘Through the Grapevine’ shows the importance of actual touch as an irreplaceable form of intimacy. After ‘Red Haired Men’ in 2018, Vantournhout returns to the theatre with partner-in-crime Axel Guérin. A new highpoint in Vantournhout’s oeuvre following the universally acclaimed productions of ‘ANECKXANDER’, ‘Raphaël’ and ‘Screws’.

“De derde voltreffer op rij voor Alexander Vantournhout.”
