What influence will a bowling ball have on the movements of a performer?

Vooruit resident Alexander Vantournhout gives the audience a taste of five to ten micro-performances in this surprising expedition. Vantournhout questions the relationship between the object and the body. What influence will a bowling ball have on the movements of a performer? How do you maintain balance during a duet on ice skates?

The audience walks around from one performance to the other. ‘Screws’ takes place in and around monuments, museums, churches and abandoned buildings to give spectators different perspectives.

Alexander combined his studies at Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s P.A.R.T.S. dance school with studies at the Brussels circus school ESAC. This allowed him to strike a balance between artistic reflection and physical excellence, and to forge a link between circus and dance. ‘Screws’ will be a site-specific performance with six performers.

"Een bowlingbal en ijswandelschoenen lenen zich uitstekend tot acrobatisch circus, bewijst Alexander Vantournhout in ‘Screws’."
