Tiago Rodrigues / Teatro Nacional D. Maria II

Wed 19.0220:00 - 21:30Minard
When Tiago Rodrigues’ grandmother found out she was going blind, she asked him to choose one book that she would then learn by heart. That way, when her vision finally fails her, at least she’ll be able to read this book in her mind. It was during his search for the right book that Rodrigues would come up with the idea for ‘By Heart’. He presents an assortment of stories about his grandmother and about writers and characters from books that, in some way, form a connection between him and his grandmother.
‘By Heart’ is a performance about the importance of oral tradition, the invisible smuggling of words and ideas that only your memory can facilitate. It’s shares a vision of the theatre as a sort of public forum for sharing that which cannot be expressed in metres, euros or bytes.
“‘By Heart’ is een hartverwarmende voorstelling, die de orale traditie in ere herstelt en zelfs politiseert. (...) ‘By Heart’ is een hartverwarmende simpele performance met een grote boodschap”
