The man behind ‘L’Autre’ & ‘La Cosa’ returns to Vooruit

Nails, wood, paint, some tools and everyday gestures that seem unimportant: from these scraps Claudio Stellato conjures up a fantastic DIY workshop. Physical efforts are pushed to the point of exhaustion, with sometimes absurd results. With his third creation Stellato immerses himself further in his research into the connection between body and material.

The Italian Belgian is a multidisciplinary artist. First trained as a jazz musician, Stellato performed as a circus artist for years. Afterwards he worked for various dance companies, until he presented his first solo project ‘L’Autre’ in 2011. Stellato has long been fascinated by the connection between man and object. In ‘La Cosa’, for example, four men in tailored suits fight with pieces of lumber.
